Initial Setup and Checks Including USB-C Cable Use
Confirm the following on the Insight Infrared Video Goggles before each use of the goggles:
-
Goggles assessment – Visually inspect to confirm that there is no visible damage to the cushion, strap, body unit, camera unit, and cable. Do NOT use goggles if there is visible damage to any components. Contact [email protected] for next steps if damage present.
- Plug one side of the USB-C connector into a USB-C port on a computer. Do not plug the Insight Infrared Video Goggles USB-C connector into any ports other than those on a laptop or personal computer.
- Ensure that the other end of the USB-C cable is seated in the receptacle on the camera unit. If not already seated, insert the cable connector into the receptacle until you hear a click.
- Arrange clinical space with the computer on a secure surface that is close enough to the exam table to avoid strain on the cable when the patient is wearing the goggles.
- If using a laptop or tablet computer, confirm it is on a stable flat surface placed at a reasonable distance so that the cable will not receive any undue strain.
- Clinicians should attend to the cable position to avoid catching the cable on objects in the environment, themselves, or the patient.
Storing Your USB-C Cable and Insight Goggles
1. Detach one end of the USB-C cable from the computer’s USB-C port by pulling gently on the connector (thickened portion) of the end of the cable.
2. Detach the other end of the USB-C cable from the camera unit for cleaning, disinfection, and storage as follows:
a. Depress and hold down the button on the receptacle.
b. While holding the receptacle button down, disconnect the USB-C cable from the receptacle by gently pulling on the connector (thickened portion) of the end of the cable.
3. Coil the USB-C cable into a circle approximately 200 mm (8 inches) in diameter.
4. Place the looped cable into the cutout in the case.
5. Place the goggles into the case, with Vestibular First logo on the camera unit right side up and the receptacle on the camera unit pointing toward the bottom of the case. The face cushion area of the goggles should rest against the curved portion of the divider wall inside the case, and the goggles should be oriented as indicated by the molded outline in the bottom of the case.
6. Secure the lid of the case by zippering the case closed completely.
