How to relink the cameras in OBS

Occasionally after large OS updates or software updates, your computer may disconnect the goggles from the software, and a quick relink will be required. Please follow the instructions below.

General Note:  Depending on your operating system, some or all of the cameras need to be relinked. 

Apple Users: You must plug the goggles into the exact same ports on the computer/hub each time or the video signals could get swapped or broken and you will need to re-link the cameras manually.

A. Connect All Cameras

In order make sure OBS can see all of the connected devices, plug in the goggles and optionally an external webcam if you are using a camera not built-in to your computer.

B. Link Camera Scene

In the Scenes box confirm 9 – LINK CAMERAS is selected and if not click on it.

C. Open Properties of Left Eye Camera

In the Sources box, double left-click on Camera 1 (Left Eye) to open the properties window.

D. Select OBS Virtual Camera

In the Device dropdown menu, select OBS Virtual Camera from the list.

NoteIf you do not see OBS Virtual Camera on this list, Please select any available option other than Left Eye.

OBS-Link-E - Left Camera

E. Select Left Eye

In the Device dropdown menu, click Left Eye from the list.  You should see the camera feed in the preview window.

Click Ok to save the settings.

F. Open Properties of Right Eye Camera

In the Sources panel, double left-click on Camera 2 (Right Eye) to open the properties window.

OBS-Link-D - OBS Virtual Camera

G. Select OBS Virtual Camera

In the Device dropdown menu, select OBS Virtual Camera from the list.

Note:  If you do not see OBS Virtual Camera on this list, Please select any option other than Right Eye.

OBS-Link-H - Right Eye

H. Select Right Eye

In the Device dropdown menu, click Right Eye from the list.  You should see the camera feed in the preview window.

Click Ok to save the settings.

I. Open Properties of Room Camera (Optional)

In the Sources panel, double left-click on Camera 3 (Room) to open the properties window.

OBS-Link-J - Integrated Camera

J. Select Room Camera

In the Device dropdown menu, select your room camera from the list.  It is usually called either Integrated Webcam or Facetime Camera.

Note:  The camera name can vary and also can include the name of the manufacturer (eg. HP Webcam).  Try them all until you find the right one–you won’t break anything 🙂

K. Confirm All Cameras are linked

Congrats! Your cameras should now be all linked to OBS and will be visible in this setup scene.  You can confirm that the scenes work by clicking through any of the scenes 1 through 7.
