Vestibular Apparatus Ball Maze

Learn by doing with this interactive vestibular apparatus/labyrinth ball maze that shows the basic functions of the semi-circular canals, otoconia, and cupulas.  Perfect for use with patients, students, and educators!

Each of the three cupulas are represented by not allowing crystals to pass through them.  As an additional challenge, there are divots on either site of the cupulas that simulate when otoconia get stuck and need additional help to get free.


The green area in the center represent the saccule and utricle where the otoconia should be in a normal vestibular system.  The goal of this maze is to get all of the balls into the center area.  To represent the normal function of these organs, there is a small “pool” where the balls gather in their homeostasis

Semi-Circular Canals

Each of the canals are labeled for the Horizontal (H), Posterior (P), and Anterior (A)  in the middle of each canal.  This is to aid both education and to demonstrate the anatomy of the inner ear.  Each canal has multiple ways to catch and disrupt the path of the balls, much like actual structures of the semi-circular canals.
