Vestibular Today Functional Inner Ear Models

VT-4IN-3D-PAIR

In partnership with the team at Vestibular Today, we are excited to share with you the new Functional Inner Ear Model.  This model was redesigned based on feedback from the first version and these improvements have been integrated into this updated model!  Perfect for anyone who works with the ear or vestibular system.

Functional Otoconia Ring

At the heart of the original Functional Inner Ear model was a way to simulate how gravity affects the otoconia in the semicircular canals.  We have developed a removable ring that you can move to the affected canal to demonstrate how repositioning maneuvers work to clear the crystals.

Labeled Anatomy

We worked with top researchers and clinicians to find a way to intuitively label the key parts of the inner ear used in vestibular settings.  The bottom of the base is also labeled as a reference.

  • A = Anterior
  • P = Posterior
  • H = Horizontal (Lateral)
  • Star = Cupula

Orientation Arrow

Our model has an arrow embedded at the top of the cochlea that allows you to easily oriente the model to their anatomy.  Simply point the arrow forward when holding model, and the inner ear is properly oriented.

Sold Individually or as a Matched Pair

You can purchase either ear or even better–a pair that shows all six semicircular canals.  This is a must-have for education and demonstrating the relationship between the canals.

About Vestibular Today

Danielle Tolman Headshot
We have partnered with Vestibular Today to provide educational resources to the vestibular community of clinicians, researchers, educators, students, and patients.

Dr. Danielle Tolman, PT is a physical therapist who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of patients with vestibular and balance dysfunction.  Dr. Tolman had the opportunity to complete a 10 week clinical rotation with a vestibular specialist at The Otolaryngology, Vestibular, and Balance Center at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA where she became a true “Vestibuloholic”.

Dr. Tolman developed the original “Functional Inner Ear Model” for both patient and clinician education. In order to share her educational model, she founded Vestibular Today, which is a growing website and community dedicated to sharing interesting patient cases, educational videos, and vestibular-related research. The newest addition to Vestibular Today includes her podcast “Talk Dizzy To Me” in which she and her co-host interview leading experts in the field.
