SUMMARY:Journal Club- Motion Sickness
DESCRIPTION:Join Co-Founder Dr. Helena Esmonde PT\, DPT\, NCS and Rachel Wellons\, PT\, DPT\, NCS as they discuss and take live questions about recent research on the treatment of motion sickness. \nDr. Wellons has worked in a variety of inpatient settings such as skilled nursing facilities\, acute hospital\, and acute rehabilitation. Dr. Wellons has also had the opportunity to treat patients with vestibular and balance dysfunction in an outpatient vestibular rehabilitation clinic. She attended the APTA course in Vestibular Rehabilitation earning a Certificate of Competency in Vestibular Rehabilitation in 2008. Dr. Wellons developed experience working with neurological populations across the continuum of care\, so she became a Board Certified Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy in 2009. DESCRIPTION:Join Co-Founder Dr. Helena Esmonde PT\, DPT\, NCS\, Dr. Mark Rosner and Dr. Debby Feinberg as they discuss and take live questions about recent research on the topic of Binocular Vision Dysfunction and Visual Vertigo. \nDr. Mark Rosner is the COO of Vision Specialists of Michigan\, a clinic dedicated to the practice of NeuroVisual Medicine\, a new optometry specialty focusing on binocular vision / eye misalignment since 2000. He is also Co-Director of the NeuroVisual Medicine Institute’s Training Program\, recruiting and training optometrists across the country & world\, utilizing innovative optometry tools and knowledge to support growth of students’ practices as well as ultimately help BVD sufferers. Dr. Rosner is a retired Emergency Medicine Physician with more than 30 years of combined experience treating\, educating\, and researching in emergency medicine at level 1 and 2 facilities. \nDr. Debby Feinberg began practicing Optometry in 1983. Since 1995 Dr. Feinberg has been developing the field of NeuroVisual Medicine which is the optometric subspecialty that identifies and treats neurological / medical symptoms that originate directly or indirectly in the visual system. Dr. Feinberg has been performing pioneering work with Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD)\, a condition where a vision misalignment (frequently subtle) creates difficulties with the two eyes working together to create a single 3-dimensional image\, and difficulties with the two eyes following that image as it moves. In 2004. In collaboration with the Delaware Biotechnical Institute Dr. Teixido has created unique 3D materials for teaching anatomy\, surgery\, and pathophysiology. Dr Teixido has taken a leadership role in Otolaryngology in education on migraine\, and in BPPV\, and has established teaching tools and foundations to improve patient care. Dr. Teixido is the director of the Delaware Otologic Medicine and Surgery Fellowship\, director of the Balance and Mobility center of Christiana Care\, and co-director of the Pediatric Cochlear Implant and Auditory Rehabilitation Program of the Nemours duPont Hospital for Children. He teaches residents in otolaryngology regularly at Thomas Jefferson\, University of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

He is a nationally recognized expert in the diagnosis and treatment of dizziness and balance disorders. He has authored numerous publications related to the field of audiology\, dizziness\, balance disorders and vestibular rehabilitation. His booklet\, Balance Disorders: A Short Course for the Primary Care Physician\, is in its’ third printing and has been widely distributed throughout North America. His first full length textbook\, Vestibular Function: Evaluation and Treatment\, was released in May of 2004. The 2nd edition of his textbook\, Vestibular Function: Clinical and Practice Management was released in June 2011. She is currently the Executive Director of Clinical Affairs for Virtualis\, a rehabilitation technology company centered on therapeutic immersive virtual reality and force plate technologies. Her clinical practice focuses on the management of adults with vestibular\, concussion\, and balance disorders. Dr. Stoskus is an active member of the APTA’s Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy including the Vestibular SIG\, Vestibular EDGE outcome measure task force\, and APTANJ’s Vestibular Special Interest Group (Co-Chair). In addition to her full-time work\, Dr. Stoskus is an adjunct faculty member in the Seton Hall DPT program (NJ) teaching content in adult neurology\, postural control assessment and motor learning using technology\, vestibular rehabilitation\, and professional development and leadership seminar.
