His special clinical interests are the diagnosis and treatment of dizziness\, balance and eye movement disorders. He runs vestibular neurology clinics at the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals and an acute vertigo clinic at UCLH. He runs a multi-disciplinary ocular motility clinic with the department of neuro-ophthalmology\, and MDT educational sessions for vestibular migraine and functional dizziness at NHNN. Dr Kaski is an active teacher in vestibular neurology\, regular International invited speaker on vestibular neuroscience topics\, and runs a popular dizziness and balance workshop for medical professionals in London. DESCRIPTION:Join Co-Founder Dr. Helena Esmonde PT\, DPT\, NCS and special guest Dr. Eleftherios Papathanasiou\, PhD\, FEAN as they discuss Critical Updates: VEMP Testing and answer viewer-submitted questions. \nDr. Eleftherios Papathanasiou is a Clinical Neurophysiologist and Fellow of the European Academy of Neurology.  He has a Master’s Degree in Cell Biology\, Neurobiology and Anatomy from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago\, and a PhD in Clinical Neurophysiology from the Alexandoupoli General Hospital School of Medicine\, Greece.  His main research interest is in Neurotology and Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMPs).  He has 60 publications in international peer reviewed journals and has been cited by over 210 other publications.  He was chairman of an international working group with regards to the Clinical Application of Cervical VEMPs published in 2014 in the journal Clinical Neurophysiology\, which is now considered an international guideline by the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN).  His recent review on the clinical applications of VEMPs is now in press. \nRegister for the event to be entered into our monthly raffle to win a Vestibular Model and download the article we’ll be discussing below.

SUMMARY:Advances in Vestibular Rehabilitation: A Competency-Based Course
DESCRIPTION:This evidence-based 3.5-day course was developed in response to requests for updated training in the assessment and treatment of individuals with vestibular disorders and to serve as a recertification course for clinicians who have previously completed the Vestibular Rehabilitation Competency-Based Course. The program emphasizes advanced clinical decision-making\, with a focus on differential diagnosis and management of peripheral and central nervous system causes of dizziness\, vertigo\, and imbalance. Led by nationally and internationally recognized expert clinicians and researchers\, the course covers advanced examination and treatment of BPPV variants\, as well as clinical decision-making in vestibular hypofunction\, mild traumatic brain injury\, cervical vertigo\, pediatric vestibular rehabilitation\, vestibular migraine\, and persistent postural-perceptual dizziness(PPPD). Emphasis will be placed on using assessment results to develop effective treatment plans. The course will include a written examination.
