DESCRIPTION:Join Co-Founder Dr. Helena Esmonde PT\, DPT\, NCS and Dr. Jennifer Stoskus\, PT\, DPT\, NCS as they discuss and take live questions about recent research on the topic of Virtual Reality in Vestibular Rehab. \nJennifer Stoskus\, is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy (PT\, DPT\, NCS). She is currently the Executive Director of Clinical Affairs for Virtualis\, a rehabilitation technology company centered on therapeutic immersive virtual reality and force plate technologies. Her clinical practice focuses on the management of adults with vestibular\, concussion\, and balance disorders. Dr. Stoskus is an active member of the APTA’s Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy including the Vestibular SIG\, Vestibular EDGE outcome measure task force\, and APTANJ’s Vestibular Special Interest Group (Co-Chair). In addition to her full-time work\, Dr. Stoskus is an adjunct faculty member in the Seton Hall DPT program (NJ) teaching content in adult neurology\, postural control assessment and motor learning using technology\, vestibular rehabilitation\, and professional development and leadership seminar. DESCRIPTION:Join Co-Founder Dr. Helena Esmonde PT\, DPT\, NCS and Dr. Colin Grove\, PT\, PhD as they discuss and take live questions about recent research on the topic of The Gait Disorientation Test. \n\n\nDr. Grove received his academic doctorate in Clinical Investigation from Institute for Clinical and Translational Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his clinical doctorate in physical therapy from Temple University in Philadelphia\, PA. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Neuromuscular Coordination Laboratory within the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. At present\, he is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Laboratory of Vestibular NeuroAdaptation within the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. His research interests include developing novel interventions to address the sensorimotor and perceptual challenges faced by persons with vestibular dysfunction\, and he has presented his findings at national and international conferences. DESCRIPTION:Join Co-Founder Dr. Helena Esmonde PT\, DPT\, NCS and special guests Dr. Steven Broglio\, PhD\, ATC\, Dr. David Bruton\, Jr.\, PT\, DPT\, and Dr. Elizabeth Pieroth\, PsyD\, ABPP\, MPH as they hold a panel discussion and take live questions about recent research on the topic of concussion management. \nDr. Steven Broglio is a professor of Athletic Training and adjunct professor of Neurology and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Michigan.  Dr. Broglio is the director of the Michigan Concussion Center and the NeuroTrauma Research Laboratory His research has been supported by the National Athletic Trainers’ Research and Education Foundation\, the National Institutes of Health\, the National Collegiate Athletic Association\, and the Department of Defense. \nDr. David Bruton Jr. is a former athlete turned physical therapist\, who graduated from the University of Colorado in 2021. David was a former safety for the Denver Broncos for 7 years\, and 1 year with the Washington Football Team.  During his tenure with the Broncos he was a captain for 3 years and won Super Bowl 50.  After retirement\, David followed his heart towards a lifelong passion for the profession of physical therapy. \nDr. Elizabeth Pieroth is a Board Certified Clinical Neuropsychologist and is the Director of the Concussion Program at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush. She has been involved in the assessment of players in the National Hockey League since 1997 and is the Head Injury/Concussion specialist for the Chicago Bears\, Blackhawks\, White Sox\, Fire\, and the National Women’s Soccer League. He received his MS in Physical Therapy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He was a clinician and faculty member at UAB for several years before receiving his Ph.D.\, in Behavioral Neuroscience (Department of Psychology) from UAB. He completed a two year post-doctoral fellowship in neuro-otology with Susan Herdman\, Ph.D.\, PT. He is also the Director of the UCSF Balance and Falls Center. Dr. Sharon has conducted and published research on several topics related to hearing and balance disorders including outcomes after surgery for superior canal dehiscence. After receiving his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai\, Sharon completed a residency in otolaryngology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital\, a teaching affiliate of Washington University in St. Louis. DESCRIPTION:Join Co-Founder Dr. Helena Esmonde PT\, DPT\, NCS and guests Dr. Miriam Welgampola and Dr. Allison S. Young as they discuss and take live questions about recent research on the topic of Meniere’s Disease. \nDr Miriam Welgampola is an Associate Professor of Neurology at the Central Clinical School\, University of Sydney. She is a neuro-otologist and Director of Clinical Research at The Balance Clinic. She has been a consultant neurologist at the Institute of Clinical Neurosciences\, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Miriam’s clinical work focuses on ictal assessment of acute vestibular syndromes presenting to the emergency room\, early diagnosis of vestibular disorders by event monitoring and treatment of intractable positional vertigo (BPV). Her translational research focuses on “capturing” acute vertigo in the frontline (emergency department and general practice). \nAllison Young is a research Audiologist at The Balance Clinic. Originally from Alberta\, Canada\, she has completed a diploma in Speech Pathology and received a Masters Degree of Clinical Audiology at Macquarie University. Her previous work experience involved working as a hearing aid practitioner. Her main focus now is comprehensive audio-vestibular testing\, using new\, non-invasive tests such as Vestibular evoked potentials (VEMPs) and video head impulses (vHIT)\, as well as established techniques including VNG/VOG\, ABR and audiometry. DESCRIPTION:Join Co-Founder Dr. Helena Esmonde PT\, DPT\, NCS and special guests Dr. DeJ’a Crippen\, PT\, DPT\, Dr. Madison Oak\, PT\, DPT\, and Dr. Danielle Tolman\, PT\, DPT as they discuss effective patient education strategies in vestibular conditions and answer viewer-submitted questions. \nDr. DeJ’a Crippen\, PT\, DPT  graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Delaware and went on to obtain her Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of the Sciences in Philadelphia\, PA.  She is a licensed physical therapist with a focus and passion for evaluating and treating patients with balance and vestibular disorders as well as neuromuscular\, cardiovascular\, pulmonary\, post-covid\, general orthopedic\, geriatric\, and return-to-sport. In 2022\, she was awarded the APTA’s Minority Scholarship Award. \nDr. Madison Oak\, PT\, DPT graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from University of San Francisco. Dr. Oak is an experienced vestibular specialist. She has advanced training in vestibular diagnostics utilizing infrared video nystagmography to observe ocular movement to diagnose and treat vestibular pathology. She understands many people are improperly diagnosed and treated with vestibular conditions\, and she hopes to improve the lives of one patient at time by providing proper vestibular care to this underserved population. She is also the Founder of The Vertigo Doctor\, Vestibular Group Fit\, & Oak PT & Wellness \nDr. Danielle Tolman\, PT\, DPT specializes in the evaluation and treatment of patients with vestibular and balance dysfunction. She obtained her bachelors in Healthcare Management as well as her doctorate of physical therapy from Misericordia University. A few short years later\, she developed the educational version of a 3D printed model of the Vestibular Organ for both patient and clinician education. In order to share her educational model\, she founded Vestibular Today\, which is a growing website and community dedicated to sharing interesting patient cases\, educational videos\, and vestibular-related research.
